Admissions Policy
Texas Christian Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, and ethnic origin in administrative policies, scholarship, loan programs, athletics and other school-administered programs.
Admission is based on the student application file and availability of space. Parents of students who are admitted to Texas Christian Academy must agree to adhere to the statement of parental cooperation. Both the parents and student must agree to uphold the Texas Christian Academy Honor Code. We believe it is vitally important that the student and at least one parent be actively involved in a local Christian congregation, and can give a credible profession of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and affirm the Statement of Faith.
Application to Texas Christian Academy includes administrator's recommendations; transcript of academic work; current achievement test scores; TCA evaluation testing; attendance and discipline file; birth certificate; certificate of immunizations, medical history, signed release forms, teacher recommendation, and a personal referral. Interviews are granted to applicants whose qualifications meet admission standards. The Admissions Committee reviews the applicant's file and each applicant is notified concerning the status of acceptance. The registration fee is due when the student is accepted (this fee is non refundable.)
Applicants for K4 should be three years old and Kindergarten applicants should be five years old on or before September 1 of the year of entry. Exceptions can be made, based on test results, with the parents understanding that their child will go into 1st grade following Kindergarten. Children whose birthday fall in the months of June, July and August, or whose test results are below what is considered average for their age, if accepted, may be referred for placement in the previous grade at the discretion of the kindergarten teacher. The final placement decision will be made by the Admissions Board and will reflect the school's desire to place the student in the most appropriate environment.
Applicants for first grade should be six years old on or before September 1 of the year of entry.
Students enrolled in Texas Christian Academy are expected to maintain high standards of integrity and personal morality. The school has established standards of student conduct, attendance, dress code and attitude set forth in the Student Handbook.
Texas Christian Academy recognizes that God has given primary and ultimate responsibility for training and educating a child to his or her parents. Since Texas Christian Academy is a support ministry for the Christian home, it is expected that each student's parents be committed to involvement in their child's education, faithfully supporting the school with their time, effort, encouragement, and financial resources.
Texas Christian Academy cannot meet the educational needs of all students, even the needs of all students of Christian parents. While Texas Christian Academy desires to be helpful, it is not intended to function as a remedial or correctional school. We are not equipped to meet these special needs.
Texas Christian Academy reserves the right to ask parents to withdraw a student who will not or does not adjust to our expectations.
When space is limited, priority is given to approved applicants in order of the date on receipt of application.
